70-Pound Record Striped Bass!

James R. Bramlett caught the new Alabama state record 70-pound striped bass while fishing the Black Warrior River in Walker County, Alabama. Bramlett saw fish rolling near the surface so he quickly grabbed his trusty Shakespeare Ugly Stick rod, hooked on 10-inch Gizzard Shad, and made a cast toward the surface disturbance--fish on! It took him about 20 to 25 minutes to land the 70 pound, 47 inch river beast, which shatters the previous Alabama record by 15 pounds. Pending IGFA (International Game Fish Association) approval, Bramlett's giant striped bass will also claim the locked stripped bass world record slot that currently stands at 67 pounds 8 ounces.
